Standard 2: Content

Teachers know and understand the content area for which they have instructional responsibility.

I pride myself on designing and implementing hands-on and engaging lessons that allow students to take an active role in their learning.

CVC Blending/Segmenting (Kindergarten)

In this small group activity, students are practicing blending/segmenting cvc words as well as identifying vowel sounds. This activity is hands-on, multimodal, and allows for differentiation within small groups.

Sentence Writing Using Verbs, Nouns, & Adjectives (Kindergarten)

In this whole group lesson, students will engage with an interactive "Emoji Spinner" to fill in sentence frames.  Students will work collaboratively to create adjectives that will add more detail to their writing.

Heritage/Traditions Narrative Writing (Kindergarten)

Through this project, I encouraged students to reflect on and discuss their personal heritage/traditions while celebrating diversity.  This fostered a sense of community and belonging in my classroom and allowed me to get to know student on a deeper level.
